Employees may report their concerns to our external hotline provider, NAVEX Global. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and allows you to voice your good faith concerns, and remain anonymous, if you prefer, by calling toll-free 888-609-NOVA. No call tracing identification is ever utilized.
You are expected to act in “good faith” when making a report. A Good Faith Report is defined as a report of an allegation of suspected Improper Conduct engaged in by a university employee (who is not also the Reporting Individual) based upon a good faith and reasonable belief that the conduct has both occurred and is wrongful under applicable law, regulation, and/or university policy. Communications or reports made in good faith do not disregard facts that would refute such communication or report and are not based upon intentional bias, malice, or other ill intent.
When you file a report by calling the toll-free number, you will receive a report number. To follow up on a report, call the toll free number again and inform the Ethics and Compliance Reporting Hotline representative that you are following up on a report. You will be asked for your report number. You can always add additional information that would pertain to your original report. The university individual(s) evaluating the report based on the type of asserted Improper Conduct will be alerted that you have amended your report and will review any new information.
This hotline reporting service is provided by an outside vendor called NAVEX Global. NAVEX Global does not utilize call tracing identification. The university will not learn your identity from NAVEX Global if you file an anonymous report.
In some circumstances, however, your identity may nevertheless become apparent. For example, this may occur where the particular assertions of a report suggest that it must have come from one person, or the Reporting Individual’s identity becomes clear, during the course of the evaluation of the report.
No retaliatory action will be taken against any employee for reporting or inquiring about a concern that may involve improper conduct engaged in by a university employee (who is not also the reporting individual) based upon a good faith and reasonable belief that the conduct has both occurred and is wrongful under applicable law, regulation, and/or university policy.
