Key Responsibilities of the Physical Plant Department

Housekeeping Services

• Daily cleaning and maintenance of all campus facilities, including offices, classrooms, laboratories, and common areas.
• Removal of waste and recyclable materials to ensure a clean and sanitary environment.

Grounds Maintenance

• Preservation of the campus's aesthetic appeal through landscaping, tree care, and upkeep of outdoor spaces.
• Maintenance of athletic fields, parking areas, and walkways.

Campus Services

• Coordination and support for campus events, including equipment rental, setup, and logistics.
• Management of material receiving, inventory, and warehousing operations.

General Maintenance

• Prompt response to emergency maintenance calls, such as plumbing leaks, electrical issues, and HVAC problems.
• Implementation of preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and ensure the longevity of campus facilities.
• Repair of furniture, fixtures, and other campus equipment.

Fleet Services

• Maintenance and repair of NSU's fleet of vehicles, including vans, trucks, and leased cars.
• Scheduling and cleaning of vehicles to ensure their cleanliness and operational efficiency.

Shuttle Services

• Operation of the campus shuttle service on an approved route, providing transportation for students, faculty, and staff.
• Maintenance of shuttle service schedules and routes to meet the needs of the campus community.
