From AI-powered tools that make us more efficient at work to apps that make it easier to communicate with family from around the globe, technology plays an increasingly central role in our daily lives. Simultaneously, technological advancements are happening at an exponential rate – making it hard to keep up with the latest trends.
Whether you work in tech, are curious about innovation, or simply want to gain a clearer understanding of digital trends, here are a few ways to help you stay on top of everything tech.
1. Subscribe to email newsletters
Newsletters are many busy professionals’ go-to resource for learning about technology. The rise of platforms like Substack have made it easier to find high-quality content about the topics that are most interesting to you.
For a quick read about business and technology that hits your inbox every day, check out Morning Brew. If you’re interested in the financial side of technology, it’s worth taking a look at trading platform Robinhood’s daily newsletter, Snacks. Data wonks interested in the future of innovation might enjoy Exponential Age, written by entrepreneur and investor Azeem Azhar.
2. Tune into tech podcasts
Podcasts are perfect because they allow you to listen while multitasking, giving you a lot of information in a short amount of time. For the last decade, listeners have relied on This Week in Tech to provide the latest on everything from electric cars to cryptocurrency and big tech regulation.
Future, the media arm of venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, offers a few different podcasts for “anyone seeking to understand the future, now.” And veteran tech journalist Kara Swisher has teamed up with legendary NYU business professor Scott Galloway to create Pivot, a podcast that is as informative as it is amusing.
Tech Tip: It can be hard to keep track of the podcasts you like. We suggest an app like Overcast or Spotify, both of which will help ensure that you never miss an episode of your favorite shows.
3. Keep it local (and virtual!)
South Florida is a growing innovation hotspot and benefits from a broad range of opportunities to learn about tech. Non-profit organizations like Tech Hub South Florida and Refresh Miami host events each week, spotlighting startups and innovators from the Treasure Coast through to the Keys.
The Levan Center runs events on innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship. Bookmark our events page to be the first to learn about future events on topics such as developing innovation ecosystems and women in tech. Also, keep an eye out for our upcoming Incubate and Accelerate programs, focused on helping entrepreneurs supercharge their startups’ growth trajectory.
