Facilities and Administrative (F&A) Costs: Commonly called Indirect or Overhead Costs. Per Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Rate Agreement - F&A costs are calculated as a percentage of the modified total direct costs base (excludes equipment, capital expenditure, patient care costs, facility rental, tuition remission, scholarships and fellowships, participant support costs and the portion of each subaward exceeding $25,000). Rates below will be effective from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2024. The rate in effect at the start of a sponsored award will apply for the life of the award. Standard Mileage Rate: 67 cents per mile for travel beginning January 1, 2024 unless otherwise restricted by the agency.
NIH Salary Cap: $221,900 effective January 1, 2024. This applies, but is not exclusive to: NIH, SAMHSA, AHRQ, CDC and HRSA.
