Feeling overwhelmed, hopeless, or considering harming yourself is never easy. You are not alone. This page offers resources and support to help you navigate these challenging times. Remember, reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. There is hope, and there are people who care about you.

If someone you know is struggling, do not hesitate to reach out, to ask directly if they are thinking of suicide, and to help get them to resources.

Warning Signs

Are you struggling? You’re not alone. Many people experience difficult times. While not everyone who feels this way will hurt themselves, it’s important to pay attention to your thoughts and feelings. Are you experiencing any of these?

  • Feeling hopeless or worthless.
  • Thinking about harming yourself.
  • Withdrawing from friends and activities.
  • Changes in sleep, appetite, or energy levels.
  • Increased use of alcohol or drugs.
  • Difficulty concentrating or making decisions.
  • Giving away prized possessions or making arrangements.
  • Engaging in risky or self-destructive behaviors.
  • Feeling isolated or alone.
  • Experiencing overwhelming emotions.

Student Counseling

The NSU Center for Student Counseling and Well-Being by Henderson Behavioral Health offers all full and part-time students 10 free individual counseling sessions per year. All sessions are confidential and available in person or via telehealth.

Office Hours:
Monday - Thursday: 8:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.*
Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

*Appointments available until 8:00 p.m.
