Diversity is one of the eight core values that define Nova Southeastern University (NSU). We are dedicated to enhancing our inclusive environment for all our students, faculty, and staff, as is expected of a dynamic university such as NSU. One group helping to strengthen NSU’s atmosphere of respect and diversity is the BEDI Advisory Council – Belonging, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
The BEDI Advisory Council’s mission is to provide and empower all members of the NSU community toward inclusive excellence in all aspects of university life. As a majority-minority university, NSU recognizes that all our members' perspectives, knowledge, and histories are valuable, and we will foster an environment where everyone has a deep sense of belonging.
The work of highlighting diversity and spearheading initiatives is not new at NSU – it stretches back to 2006 with the creation of the Inclusion and Diversity Council, which hosted two discussion series that fostered university-wide conversations on diversity topics. Additionally, many of the university’s colleges have their own strong diversity initiatives. The BEDI Advisory Council is the next evolution of this important work. Its council members are a voice for everyone in the NSU community and report directly to me through the Provost. I encourage you to reach out to your unit’s representative on the council if you have an opinion or suggestion to share or would like to get involved.
The NSU community is stronger when we work together, and everyone can feel a sense of belonging and that their contributions have meaning and impact.
We are One NSU.
