Internal Grant Programs
Below are internal NSU grant competitions for smaller research grants to collect pilot data or to conduct applied research work in the community.
President's Research Grant (PRG): The PRG has an annual competition with awards up to $15,000 (deadline typically in January/February). This grant program was previously called "PFRDG."
- The "Research Development Track" provides seed money for a new research area for which external funding will be sought, or support to move an existing project to a new level of competitiveness for external funding.
- The "Research Scholar Track" supports scholarly research projects that contribute to general knowledge of the discipline, but for which external funding is not a likely or expected outcome (e.g., journal publications, book chapters, exhibitions, etc.).
Quality of Life (QOL) Grant: The QOL Faculty Community Based Applied Research Grant has an annual competition for funding up to $15,000 (deadline typically in January/February) to support research projects that aim to improve the quality of life in the Tri-County area (Broward, Dade, and Palm Beach Counties).
- Projects must fall under one of seven categories: 1) Autism, 2) Criminal Justice, 3) Children and Families, 4) Adult General, 5) Elderly Services, 6) Foster Care, or 7) Other.

Health Professions Division (HPD) Research Grant: The HPD Research Grant program has a monthly competition and awards grants up to $7,500 (for up to 2 years) to help investigators initiate projects that will lead to extramural funding.
- The Principal Investigator must have a primary appointment within the Health Professions Division at NSU.
- To be considered in the month of application, proposals are due by the third Wednesday of each month by 5:00 p.m.

Dooley Trust: Through a generous donation to establish the Robert E. Dooley Trust NSU Center for Autism Endowment Fund, this funding supports programs and projects that benefit individuals with autism. Applications accepted on a rolling basis, with award cap at $50,000 except under special circumstances. Project period will be one year or less.
- Priorities are services, programs, and initiatives that support individuals with autism and provides support to caregivers/families. Preference will be given to projects that benefit children with autism.
- These funds, generously donated , are disseminated by the NSU Division of Research (DoR).
