Mission

The mission of the Office of Licensure and State Relations is to support the efforts of the academic centers at Nova Southeastern University to conduct off-campus classes outside of Florida's Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. The Office reports to the Executive Vice President and Provost for Academic Affairs and works to enhance NSU's image by collaborating with various higher education and governmental entities.

In a direct sense, the Office of Licensure's mission is to help make NSU classes available to working professionals who do not have access to the Fort Lauderdale area campuses.

Purpose

The Office of Licensure and State Relations assists the academic centers in operating the maximum number of off-campus classes that can be sustained by their resources. In this effort, it is expected that NSU's delivery systems for all campus classes will become increasingly more acceptable to higher education authorities and governmental entities, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), other postsecondary institutions, and the public in general.

Functions

We serve the university community by:

• Acting as an information resource to various NSU programs on state licensure requirements and SACSCOC procedures for off-campus operations.
• Generating applications for the yearly renewal of licenses and processes fees, institutional and agent bonds, and agent permits.
• Preparing and processing state applications for programs seeking licensure for a new site or for the first time in a state having unique licensure requirements.
• Completing extensive licensure applications and site visit arrangements for states with a major five-year renewal requirement.
• Insuring that NSU is legally qualified to do business in each jurisdiction where programs operate.
• Attempting to build and maintain the support and trust of licensure officials through informal visits, telephone contacts, and supportive activities.
• Monitoring appropriate Florida licensure agencies.
• Keeping SACSCOC notified of new locations and provides SACSCOC with mandated information that includes budget information, proof of authority to operate in the jurisdiction, and the identification of library resources that meet the needs of the program.

NSU Accreditation

Nova Southeastern University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate’s, baccalaureate, master’s, educational specialist, doctoral, and professional degrees. Nova Southeastern University also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels.
