NSU Commuter Service Program

Nova Southeastern University is committed to promoting sustainable transportation and reducing traffic congestion on campus. To encourage carpooling, the university has implemented a program that offers preferred parking spaces to registered carpool participants.

Registered carpools with valid carpool permits and NSU Parking Permits can utilize these designated spaces. Carpools must consist of two registered NSU students who carpool to and from campus an average of two days per week. Available carpool parking spaces can be used on a first-come, first-served basis.

To ensure program compliance, the following guidelines must be adhered to:

  • Carpool Eligibility: Only registered carpools with two active participants may use carpool parking spaces.
  • Carpool Verification: At least two registered carpool participants must be seen exiting a vehicle parked in a designated carpool space.
  • Permit Usage: Carpool permits are non-transferable and must be displayed on the vehicle.
  • Program Enforcement: Unauthorized use of carpool parking spaces may result in citations or towing.
By participating in the carpool program, you can enjoy the benefits of reduced traffic, lower parking costs, and a more sustainable campus environment.

How it Works

South Florida Commuter Services (SFCS) carpool criteria is used to determine carpool eligibility. Based on the information provided in your registration form, SFCS carpool software will validate that your carpool makes a logical commute to campus.

  1. Find a Carpool Partner: Connect with a classmate or fellow student living nearby.
  2. Register Your Carpool: Visit 1800234ride.com to register your carpool.
  3. Get Your Permit: Upon approval, you'll receive a carpool permit valid for one semester.
  4. Park and Ride Together: Use designated carpool spaces on a first-come, first-served basis when you carpool to campus.

Important Reminders:

  • Both carpool participants must be registered.
  • Only use carpool spaces when carpooling.
  • Display your carpool permit visibly on your vehicle.
  • Renew your registration at semester's end.
  • Update your registration if carpool arrangements change.

Enforcement

The NSU Public Safety Department monitors the carpool parking spaces at all times. If you are an unregistered vehicle found violating the program, you will be issued a citation and your vehicle may be towed. If you are a registered vehicle found violating the program, your permit will be taken on the spot and you will not be eligible to participate in the program for at least one semester. Violation includes using the spaces without a valid carpool permit and NSU parking permit.
