Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year is the first step in applying for financial aid, including grants, loans, work-study, and need-based institutional scholarships.
After you file your FAFSA, monitor your NSU email and regularly check your financial aid status in SharkLink for updates and additional requirements. After all requirements are completed, eligible students will receive a financial aid award offer notice to their NSU email. If your financial aid award offer includes grants and scholarships, these awards will automatically disburse (pay) to your student account after the registration or drop/add period. If your financial aid award offer includes Federal-Work-Study or loans, you must actively accept the offer. You may chose to reduce/modify the amounts offered.

Charges for tuition, fees, and student health insurance are placed on your student account upon registration. Other charges may be added to your account at a later time, such as for your housing and meal plan. If eligible, your student loans will disburse seven days prior to the beginning of the semester. Institutional scholarships, federal grants, and state grants/scholarships disburse after the end of the registration or drop/add period for your program. Be sure to closely monitor your student account and financial aid activity in SharkLink.

NSU requires all students to carry adequate health insurance coverage. Therefore, you will automatically be enrolled
in the NSU Student Health Insurance Plan, and your student account will be charged upon registration. If you reside and take classes outside of the United States you are exempt from the student health insurance requirement.
Waiver Process
If you already have health insurance coverage you must opt out of the NSU Student Health Insurance Plan each academic year by the given waiver deadline to have the student health insurance charge removed from your account. If you miss the deadline, you will remain enrolled in the plan for the full semester/term, and you will be responsible for payment. You will have another opportunity to opt out for the next semester/term by the next waiver deadline.

Pay before the due date
NSU ebill is the official means of generating and delivering billing statements to all students and authorized users. eBill notifications are sent to students' @mynsu.nova.edu email in the middle of each month, usually on the 15. If you would like to grant access to your account information to a parent, spouse, or other person, you can add them as authorized users in NSU eBill. This will also give them the ability to pay on your behalf and set up payment plans.
